ChaseThePig (“we,” “our,” or “the game”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the Android app, browser game, and their supporting services process, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we process
Game and account information
We process a generated player identifier, an installation or device identifier, your language preference, recovery credentials, points, experience, lesson progress, game results, hint and preference settings, and saved-game state. This lets guest accounts work, restores progress, and keeps game rewards consistent.
Email address and password for the browser version
If you create an account in the browser version, we process the email address and password you provide. The email address is your sign-in name and the only way to recover this account, so it is required for this account type; the password is stored only as a salted hash, never as readable text, and we cannot read it. We use the address to sign you in, to keep one account per address, and to help you if you lose access. We do not use it to send marketing email, we do not sell it, and we do not show it to other players: other players only ever see a short in-game code, and your own account screen shows your address with the domain hidden. You may instead play as a guest without providing either, and add an email address and password later; deleting your account removes both.
Optional Google Play Games information
If you choose to protect or restore your progress with Google Play Games, Google provides us with a verified Play Games player identifier and a short-lived authorization result. We use it only to link and recover your game account. We do not receive your Google password.
Optional Login with Amazon information
If you choose to protect or restore your progress with Login with Amazon, Amazon provides us with a verified, app-specific Amazon user identifier and a short-lived access token. We use them only to link and recover your game account. We do not request or receive your Amazon password, name, email address, or postal information.
Advertising information
The Google Play version may offer optional rewarded ads through Google Mobile Ads. Google and its partners may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions, diagnostics, and approximate location inferred from your IP, subject to their own policies and your consent choices. The Amazon Appstore version contains no advertising SDK and does not show ads.
Technical information
Our servers may record IP address, request time, requested endpoint, response status, and diagnostic information. Sensitive credentials are redacted from application logs, so a password, email address, access token or recovery code never appears in a log line. If you play in a browser, that browser stores the installation identifier and secret, your access token, and your language choice. Clearing site data signs that browser out; use your email address and password, or your recovery code, to sign in again. The rest of the public site does not use advertising cookies or analytics.
2. How we use information
- Provide the game, lessons, saved progress, rewards, leaderboards, and account recovery.
- Prevent duplicate rewards, abuse, impersonation, and technical failures.
- Maintain, debug, and improve game reliability and computer-player behavior.
- Show optional rewarded advertising and comply with legal obligations.
3. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to operate the game, such as Login with Amazon, Google Play Games, and Google Mobile Ads, as applicable to the version and features you choose; when required by law or to protect users and the service; or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
4. Storage and retention
Some settings and unfinished-game data are stored locally on your device. Browser sign-in credentials are stored in that browser's local storage. Account and progress records are stored on our servers for as long as needed to provide the service, secure accounts, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Backup behavior may also depend on your Android and Google account settings.
5. Your choices
You can decline optional Google Play Games or Login with Amazon linking and, where rewarded ads are available, choose whether to watch them. You can change game-tip preferences in the app and clear local app data through Android settings. You can permanently delete your account and associated data from Privacy & account in the app, or follow our account deletion instructions if you cannot access the app.
6. Children
ChaseThePig is not directed to children under the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their country. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us.
7. Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date.
